Lenticular Postcard

£10.00

Artist: Bridget Coderc

Size: 13cm x 9.75cm.

The lenticular prints portray the Curonian Lagoon taped by the artist’s father on a VHS cassette in 2003. Coderc damaged the original cassette with a magnet and debris to create the glitches. The colourful cards were made slightly smaller than A6 in order to keep the original VHS ratio. ‘Lagoon’ will appear to have motion as the image is viewed from different angles. At certain positions, silver specs and lines can be seen. These were made to mimic streaks that often appear across the screen.

Artist Biography

Bridget Coderc is a lens-based media artist. Her work focuses on introspection and draws from personal experience to create artwork which reflects upon mundanity, childhood memories and everyday life. Concepts are realized via media including photography, video, performance and installation. The artist often combines archive footage with self-portraits filmed on low-fidelity cameras. She brings back the outdated technology and questions how it impacts our memory. Coderc is heavily influenced by psychoanalytic theory, including ideas on the unconscious and transitional phenomena. This allows the artist to enhance her exploration into how one can acknowledge what is suppressed and unconscious within them. Website
