Gwen SenHui Chen

Gwen SenHui Chen (b. 1996) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice investigates embodied experience, material presence, and the acts of everyday life. Drawing on observations of natural and built environments, habitual behaviors, and overlooked phenomena, she constructs immersive, situational works that include tactile sculpture, found objects, organic matter, cast forms, drawing, sound, and video to create layered, time-based environments to evoke moments of flux, rhythm, and stillness. Echoing the Fluxus ethos of merging art with life into a single unity, her practice explores how art can function as a navigation tool through the phenomena of living, experienced through the body and its interaction with the world.

Chen graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2019 and studied abroad at Bishop’s University in Canada. She is currently based at the Paradise Works Studio in Manchester, where she leads and curates independent projects including Jennifer is in Paradise (2022) and The Collection of Artist-Made Hats (2025). She was previously a studio resident at Islington Mill (2022) and part of the artist-led Yum Yum studio (2023).
