'Making things that disappear' A studio-based workshop with Jack Brown

February 28, 2024 by Paradise Works

Work alongside studio member Jack Brown in his studio to create new sculptural, text-based, and collaborative public sound works.

Date: Saturday 9th March, 11:00am – 12:30pm

Location: Ground Floor studios, Paradise Works, East Philip Street, Salford, Manchester,M3 7LE

Price: Free

Ages: Suitable for all ages. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.

Be part of a ‘sound pipe orchestra’, press found objects into phenolic foam, carve supermarket soap into palm sized sculptural foams and make a shoe-based artwork.

You are invited to work alongside Jack in his studio. Tasks will include testing out new sculptural foams in relation to Brown’s ongoing ‘soaps’ series, making a text-based artwork that will fit into your shoe, experimenting with found/collected objects pressed into phenolic foam and working together to produce a momentary collaborative public sound work.

A morning of making things that will eventually seep back into the world, dissolve into bits or be worn down into nothing.
